Her fate has become lost in legends. Some say her creator destroyed her; others believe fearful villagers burned her alive. Now, the mate that Victor Frankenstein created for his monster reveals her true story, from her awakening on the slab in the scientist's laboratory, through her tortured initiation into human society, to her desperate quest for a love of her own...even if she has to manufacture the lover she wants.

Fraulein Frankenstein edition by Stephen Woodworth Literature Fiction eBooks

I believe this could become a classic as much as the original novel by Mary Shelley.
There is enough story here for multiple books. I easily believe that I will return to this book annually for a great seasonal (Halloween or just snowed in) read.
It is fantasy fiction, historical romance and horror all mixed together.

Told from the point of view of Frankenstein's second successful creation, this one a female.
From the beginning things go horribly wrong. She is rejected by her intended mate for being too beautiful. Immediately she is thrust into a cold and unforgiving world to fend for herself. Almost inconceivably she finds the one place to accept her and care for her. That was the most difficult concept in the book to imagine. From there, I was pulled into her world and accepted all as plausible.

This is an emotional read with more mature scenes than I remember in classic versions.
I found myself breathless many, many times while I read.
The writing is fantastic. When you reach the ending be sure no one is going to interrupt you. You will not be able to put the book down.

Fraulein Frankenstein edition by Stephen Woodworth Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

At first I was a little bit nervous about reading a novel by Mr. Woodworth that was outside of the Violet Eyes series of his that I had read... but I was caught up in the plot of Fraulein Frankenstein from the very first sentence! Mystery, horror, romance all written into a very wonderful story... I seriously could not put the book down until I had finished it! I recommended the book to a few friends and they all loved it and then they also purchased his Violet Eyes series. Mr. Woodworth is a very talented writer and I am so very happy that I was able to add Fraulein Frankenstein to my list of favorite books.
A heart-wrenching story of the best and worst humanity has to offer. A story where love can be the greatest and most destructive thing at the same time.

Spoiler

Anna was a beautifully created character full of flaws and the capability to let her desires and anger get the best of her regardless of how much she may fight her instincts. I found the stages of growth she goes through made her a compelling character who I cared about more as the story progressed. Humanity can be filled with ugliness and you stumble and let your hate and anger get the best of you and times. But as Anna shows us you must fight it and make amends for your mistakes in order to become someone better than you once were.
Such a different take on the Frankenstein genre. It isn't like any other interpretation I have ever read. I was lucky enough to have nominated it as part of KPD select and then it was chosen for publication. It Is a tale that is too good to give away its secrets. So please, if you have an interest in the Frankenstein family of literature, do give this book your time and energies. It is well worth every moment.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish. The writing is well executed and draws you into the story and keeps you there until the very end. The author has you sitting on the edge of your seat, wondering what will happen next. I was never quite sure if it would end "happily ever after" or not. After reading this, I now want to read Frankenstein, having only seen various movies until now.

I received a free copy of this book through the Scout program.
As much a gothic romance as it is a horror story, Stephen Woodworth's FRAULEIN FRANKENSTEIN should delight fans of both genres Unflinchingly dark when it needs to be, but lightened both by a dry wit and an emotionally-convincing love story. Our heroine is plucky, resourceful, smart, and alluring. Okay, she's made of old corpse parts, but you'll be surprised by how little that stops you rooting for her. Two transplanted thumbs up!
A sequel to Mary Shelley's Frankenstein that posits what might have become of the lady creature had Frankenstein not torn her to pieces before bringing her to life. Told in the first person from Anna Frankenstein's (the name she chooses for herself) perspective. Part horror story and part bodice-ripper (literally) romance novel with R-rated sex, Fraulein Frankenstein is an enjoyable read.
Over the past couple of centuries, Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley's 1818 novel 'Frankenstein or the Modern Prometheus' has inspired countless sequels, spinoffs, spoofs, follow-ons and outright ripoffs, few of which have even remotely stood up beside the original. 'Fraulein Frankenstein' presents a credible sequel, overlapping slightly with the end of Shelley's original novel and extrapolating plot threads from it. The novel focuses on Dr. Frankenstein's second creation, intended as a female companion for her predecessor. This is a character that got short shrift in the original novel and even in the 1935 movie that bore her name. Author Stephen Woodworth makes up for all that by presenting her as a complex and sympathetic character in search of her own identity. Woodworth's writing style is engaging and keeps the reader's attention throughout, bringing together elements of a 19th century gothic romance and a modern day thriller as it brings out many of the themes from the original and examines them with a contemporary lens. While it may not stand the test of time as part of our literary canon, it is definitely a worthy addition to the spotty and uneven Frankenstein canon. Somehow, I think Mary Shelley might just approve.
